  • THE WALL MAKEOVER | Ft. Happy Moose

Processed with VSCO with a4 preset

So about a month ago I had a tiny lightbulb go on above my head. I realized I’ve not really done anything daring or completely just outrageous in a while, and that everything happening around me was just very.. well.. plain. I had been focusing on school, hiding in my bedroom, and just not really creating things I enjoyed.

Being the insomniac I am, at 2am one night I found myself on Pinterest (and we all know how that goes…too many can’t really escape.) So when the opportunity came around for me to make a change I took it.

For my grade 12 Film and media class we were told to make a video of anything, and at the time this idea of change was continuously sitting in my mind. Normally I’m not one to fear change but more recently its really been hitting me hard. Instead of letting the thoughts of “what if” control me I jumped off that giant cliff into a bucket of well… black paint. Yes you heard that right. (Wait no, not literally gosh i’m not that stupid.)

I started the process of painting a wall in my clean white room black. The complete polar opposite to my fathers dismay. Anyway I was able to create a video with part of my process! If you haven’t checked it out yet its up on my Youtube channel… you can click here!

Today I thought I would show you my WALL MAKEOVER (*Duh duh duuuuhhhhhh*)

So basically this is what it looked like about a year ago, Minus that weird painting thing… thats been long gone for a while now.

    And now we are… HERE!

  • New Years Goals + 2016 Wrap Up

    Alright, Well… 2016 is gone.
Pretty sure I must have been asleep for half of it because it feels like it should be May.

I am so extremely thankful for everything that has happened this year.

I have always been a list person, I make lists for everything… feel free to look through my notes on my computer.
So before I get into goals lets take a moment here for what I have accomplished this year!

-Started Excersizing (Trust me I’m still lazy but least I’m about 40% less lazy than I was last year so.. gotta count for something)
-Went on a march break adventure with my Sister and Mom.
-Hit 500 Subscribers (considering I don’t post on there much I’m pretty proud haha)
    – Got a new camera, Filming lights, and Final cut pro
-Finished Grade 11 (Trust me it was a struggle so yes thats an accomplishment.)
    -Met some amazing new people
-Started reading more (I haven’t read this much since I was 10… mainly have to blame that on my discovery of the internet)
-I’ve gotten the chance to work with company’s such as Happy moose, Warby Parker, and Bitchin skin!
-I was chosen for the Liebster award?!
    -I started another novel!
    -Upgraded to!
-I started journaling more and keeping memories in boxes to look back on.
    -Hit 1,000 on Instagram!
-Started my last year of highschool (BLEH SCARY)

Many other amazing things have happened this year but if I listed them all I’d be here for days.

I ALSO WAS INVOLVED IN THIS GREAT THING MADE BY THE TALENTED ABBY FROM : THE WORLD THROUGH MY WINDOW SILL! A ton of wonderful blogger joined in to help with “THE BLOGGER YEARBOOK 2016!” You can check it out here!  Be sure to go check out Abby’s amazing blog too! 🙂

Now 2017 pretty much is the unknown… for me anyway. Since I am going and taking a year off after high school unlike many of my friends, that leaves me a lot of time to figure stuff out.

    1. Attend prom with my best friends!
    2. Finish out high school.
    3. Journal as much as possible!
    4. Complete as much art as possible for my portfolio.
    5. Travel on my own
    6. Continue to exercise several times a week… every week (even if I feel like I would rather jump off a cliff than move out of bed. *Which includes running)
    7. Meet some cool ass people (come on, you know who you are)
    8. Apply to University/College in November/December
    9. READ MORE.
    10. Finish my book. and I mean actually finish it. Not just keep it in a locked file on my computer forever.
    11. Learn more sign language/start to learn another language.
    12. Go complete Vegetarian.
    13. Get a job.
    14. Post more on here. (DO NOT MISS A MONTH. Cannot say I will put one out every week because we all know that never works haha)
    15. Get my G2. I have been putting this off for wayyyy too long.
    16. Get these braces off.. almost 4 years is enough I would say.
    17. Knock a large thing off my bucket list!
    18. Lastly for my 18th goal… well obviously turn 18 hah… oh god I’m getting old.

I hope you all have a lovely New years eve!
I will see you next year!

  • December Wrap Up

    Hello Blogging world!

I have returned from the middle of the earth with a new blog post. Hope you all had a lovely Christmas/Holiday 🙂
I am getting back into the roll of things now so let me update you on a few things that have been going on this month!

Also there is a possibility I read all 3 of these books in a 36 hour time period… don’t think I’ve read that much… ever.

Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur – ★★★★★
I’m a sucker for a good poem/ poem book and fell in love with everything in this one. Every page was absolutely beautiful. Got through it in an hour. The way the author divided it up into 4 different and important subjects made me love it more.

Until Friday Night by Abbi Glines  – ★★★★★
This novel was actually so interesting.
Not going to go much further because there is definitely going to be a book review coming!

    Everything Everything by Nicola Yoon-★★★★★

Greys Anatomy – Last time I talked about this I was on the 5th season at the beginning of November. I am now on season 10, the only reason I slowed down is because SCHOOL BE KILLING ME RN. Honestly if you have debated watching it please do… I beg of you. You will be hooked.

Gilmore Girls Revival – Gilmore girls over the years has become such a large part of me and my family’s lives because it is a show you just hold onto and remember. I have most likely watched all 7 seasons 5 times… not even kidding. When the revival came out I WAS PUMPED. Took me a few days to get to it because I needed the time to watch them all in one day and it was great reliving it. BUT SERIOUSLY WHAT THE FRICK THEY NEED A SEASON 2 I WILL BEG ON MY KNEES IF NEED BE.. SERIOUSLY THOSE PEOPLE CANT LEAVE US WITH THAT CLIFF HANGER… THE CHEEK OF THEM.

The Imitation Game – I got recommended this several times over the past few months and normally I’m not one for war time setting movies but this was actually incredible. I loved it.

Dear Santa – OBVIOUSLY this was included in my list. Its not christmas unless you watch this movie. ALL TIME FAVOURITE CHRISTMAS MOVIE.

Annie – See this movie came out like 2 years ago and I just never got around to watching it. But I watched it today and honestly… ehhh.. I love Cameron Diaz but sorry this just was not a good role for her. Everything else though… honestly perfection. I’m a sucker for Annie.

Went to a mother daughter winter tea- Sounds absolutely prissy and strange but… actually nope can’t even deny that HAH. Thought the cucumber sandwiches were good hahaha!!

Attended my schools semi formal – Went with a small group of my friends because I had never gone to one before. Lets just say it was held on the coldest Canadian night and I was in a dress… ahh. *Insert actually the grossest picture of myself, just did this to entertain you and get you laughing at that face hahahahah*

Had the 4th annual gingerbread house building event with my best friends-

Processed with VSCO with a5 preset

Visited my grandparents on Christmas Eve- Always quite an adventure.. All documented on my snapchat btw.. be sure to check out @AwkwardLauryn on snap to see my further endeavours.

LASTLY LOTS OF EDITING… LIKE TONS –  For my film and media class I had to film a video and edit it myself (which isn’t that different from what I normally do but I was dumb and chose to put the pressure on the editing side.)so it took up a good two weeks…. OH DANG THAT REMINDS ME! I HAVE A BLACK WALL IN MY ROOM NOW.
If you are wondering what I’m talking about you can check out my two newest videos right here!

    Christmas 2016 | Short Film

    Change | Visual Poem

Okay I know this is horrible.. but I have none… for either. Blogging has been on the back burner for the past month and a half.  JUST stress.. worst excuse I know. But Senior year really is pretty tough.. especially with MATH BLEH.

In the meantime have a great rest of the week!

  • 10 Movies You MUST Watch Before You Die!

Hey everybody! Yes I had a wonderful 10 day break from the blog thanks for asking hah… but really everyone needs a break sometimes! But LOOK! I’m back!! Happy November btw!

Alright so all my life I’ve grown up in a family that enjoys their movie nights… maybe a little too much. Everyone here has their own favourite genres and movies that they want to watch so usually it ends up with us fighting over what to do. So over the years I have watched wayyy to many different types of movies. I also know a lot of you guys are probably movie addicts aswell so I thought I would share my weird knowledge on this stuff.
Anyway if you’re looking for a movie to watch you have definitely come to the right place haha!

Here are 10 movies you MUST watch before you die… in no particular order!

    #1 . Ruby Sparks.
ALSO KNOWN AS MY ALL TIME FAVOURITE MOVIE.. well for now anyway… it tends to change.. a lot.

    Ruby sparks is about:
“Young author Calvin Weir-Fields (Paul Dano), once a literary darling, who is having trouble composing his next novel. Following a therapist’s advice, Calvin pulls out an old manual typewriter and creates a vivacious, flame-haired woman he dubs Ruby Sparks (Zoe Kazan). Overnight, Ruby leaps from the page into Calvin’s home as a real flesh-and-blood woman. And, what’s more, she’s unaware that she’s actually a fictional character and that her actions and feelings are dictated by whatever Calvin writes.”

I absolutely love everything about this movie. Its such a unique idea and being somewhat of a writer myself I enjoyed the whole concept! This is more of a Romance/Comedy/Fantasy type of movie if you are interested in that!

    #2 . The Lake House.

This will forever be one of my favourite movies. I first watched this when I was pretty young maybe 7 or 8 and it has stuck with me.

    The Lake House is about:
“A lonely doctor (Sandra Bullock), who once lived in a beautiful lakeside home, falls in love via letters with its latest resident, a frustrated architect (Keanu Reeves). When they discover that they are living two years apart, the pair must unravel the mystery behind their incredible romance.”

This movie is so interesting and yet still kind of gives you the “what the heck is going on” type of feeling.. not in a bad way. Its just so.. DIFFERENT?! This is more of a Romance/Drama/Fantasy type of movie.

    #3 . Dear Santa.

Okay this is my favourite christmas movie, not real with the whole “Elf” trend. Been watching this one for years! So quirky and cute!

    Dear Santa is about:
“Crystal, a rich party girl, finds a little girl’s letter to Santa asking for a new mother, and she vows to win over the father and daughter before the holidays.”

Just give this movie a chance! 100% you will love it! This is more of a Drama.

    #4. The Fundamentals of Caring.

My god one of the funniest movies I have ever watched also it has Selena Gomez in it and you can’t turn down a Selena Gomez movie!

The Fundamentals of Caring is about : “A writer (Paul Rudd) retires after a personal tragedy and becomes a disabled teen’s caregiver. When the two embark on an impromptu road trip, their ability to cope is tested as they start to understand the importance of hope and friendship.”

So funny seeing the two of them banter back and forth! This is more of a Drama/Comedy.

    #5. Parent Trap.

Now if you didn’t watch this growing up I’m gonna assume you lived under a rock. Thought for the longest time that Lindsay Lohan actually had a twin… obviously I was dumb.

    Parent Trap is about:
“Twins Annie and Hallie (Lindsay Lohan) are strangers until happenstance unites them. The preteen girls’ divorced parents, Nick (Dennis Quaid) and Elizabeth (Natasha Richardson), are living on opposite sides of the Atlantic, each with one child. After meeting at camp, American Hallie and British-raised Annie engineer an identity swap, giving both the chance to spend time with the parent they’ve missed. If the scheme works, it might just make the family whole again.”

Just watch it even if you already have, AHH MEMORIES! This is a Comedy/Romance/Drama/Family film.

    #6. Accepted.

Hilarious movie. Thats all I have to say! After watching this even I wanted to go to that college! haha!

    Accepted is about:
“After receiving his latest college rejection letter, senior Bartleby Gaines devises a novel way to fool everyone into thinking he is college-bound: Open his own university. Bartleby and his similarly stymied friends take over an abandoned building, create a fake Web site, hire a friend’s uncle to pose as the dean, and — presto — a school is born. However, they do their jobs too well, and soon many other rejects try to gain admittance to the nonexistent South Harmon Institute of Technology.”

    This is a Comedy movie.

#7. Back to the future ( THE WHOLE FREAKING TRILOGY!)

This is definitely one of those movies you cannot skip. An ABSOLUTE CLASSIC!

Back to the future is about:
“1980s sci-fi classic, small-town California teen Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) is thrown back into the ’50s when an experiment by his eccentric scientist friend Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd) goes awry. Traveling through time in a modified DeLorean car, Marty encounters young versions of his parents (Crispin Glover, Lea Thompson), and must make sure that they fall in love or he’ll cease to exist. Even more dauntingly, Marty has to return to his own time and save the life of Doc Brown.”

You have to watch all three, they are so amazing. This is a Comedy/Action/Science fiction/Fantasy film.

    #8. In your eyes.

MY GOSH THIS IS GREAT.. well all the movies listed so far have been great by wow. I watched this movie with my sister and in the end we were both shocked by how good and engaging this movie was!

    In your eyes is about:
“Two seemingly unconnected souls from different corners of the United States make a telepathic bond that allows them to see, hear and feel the other’s experiences, creating a bond that apparently can’t be broken.”

    This is a Romance/Fantasy/Comedy.

#9. What If (The F word)

Have watched this movie at least 3 times, definitely a great one..  probably because of Daniel Radcliffe but thats besides the point haha!

    What If is about:
“Wallace, who is burned out from a string of failed relationships, forms an instant bond with Chantry, who lives with her longtime boyfriend. Together, they puzzle out what it means if your best friend is also the love of your life.”

This is a Romantic Comedy/ Drama.

    #10. The Age of Adeline.

Such a beautiful movie! Blake lively is so great in this one! Had to watch it again!

The Age of Adeline is about:
“Adaline Bowman (Blake Lively) has miraculously remained a youthful 29 years of age for nearly eight decades, never allowing herself to get close to anyone lest they discover her secret. However, a chance encounter with a charismatic philanthropist named Ellis Jones (Michiel Huisman) reawakens Adaline’s long-suppressed passion for life and romance. When a weekend with Ellis’ parents threatens to expose the truth, Adaline makes a decision that changes her life forever.”

    This is a Romance/Fantasy/Drama.

Hope you have found one you haven’t seen before, or if you’ve seen them all.. YOU ARE FREAKING AMAZING!

Let me know in the comments if you have seen any of these and what you think!?
    Have a great weekend!
